TEMPORARY VACATION OF PARKING SPOTS FOR LINE-OF-SIGHT IMPROVEMENTS
Dear Residents,
We hope this notice finds you well. We are writing to inform you about an upcoming temporary vacancy of three parking spots at the corner of Main and 3rd Street. The purpose of this action is to address line of sight issues associated with making southern and northern turns at this intersection, with the primary focus on enhancing safety for all residents and road users. Cones will be used to temporarily limit parking on Main Street from July 17-July 28.

In the interest of improving visibility and ensuring the safety of everyone in the vicinity, the City Council has decided to temporarily vacate these parking spots. By removing parked vehicles from this area, we aim to provide unobstructed lines of sight for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians, thus reducing the potential for accidents and improving overall road safety.
We understand the inconvenience this may cause, especially for those who regularly utilize these parking spots. However, please note that this action is being taken with your safety in mind. It is crucial to address these line-of-sight issues promptly and thoroughly.

The City of Winthrop is seeking a full-time City Clerk-Treasurer. For a full job description and to submit an application visit the City of Winthrop website. The city of Winthrop, MN (population 1400) is now accepting applications for police chief. Candidates must meet all current standards set by the Minnesota POST Board and have previous experience supervising other police officers. Applicants interested in the position should be passionate about community, be a community collaborator and is a positive community influencer.
Starting wage for this position does depend on qualifications and experience. Salary range is $70,000-85,000 per year. Other benefits will be discussed during the interview process if you are selected as a candidate. Traditional benefits such as health, retirement and more will be included. Gaylord Sanitation is available for rural recycling pickup every 2nd & 4th Saturday of each month at the Winthrop Fire Hall parking lot from 8am – 11am.
